GTA V Fresh Meat Replay Save Bug: The Bed-Save Sequence Reported on PC
A March 2016 PC report links a persistent black screen to saving in Michael’s bed during the brief transition out of a Fresh Meat replay.
Short answer
A March 2016 PC report links a persistent black screen to saving in Michael’s bed during the brief transition out of a Fresh Meat replay. It is not evidence that ordinary saving after the story mission always corrupts a campaign.
Scope: One documented historical PC replay sequence. Console releases, GTA V Enhanced and current builds are not verified by this report.

The transition is the important part
Steam user SonicX8000 described completing a replay, seeing Mission Passed and briefly controlling Michael at home before the game returned from replay mode. During that interval, the bed-save interaction remained available. The reported failure followed using it.
This is narrower than a warning against the entire mission. Completing Fresh Meat in the normal campaign and saving after a replay has fully ended are not the same sequence.
How the reported failure unfolded
These steps describe the archived report, not a recommendation to test it on a working campaign.
- Complete a Fresh Meat replay and reach the brief Michael-at-home transition.
- Use the bed to make a save before replay mode finishes exiting.
- Load that save: the report places Michael near the front door, followed by a black screen and an autosave-overwrite prompt.
- The poster reports remaining at the black screen afterward.
Keep the healthy save out of the experiment
Do not overwrite a known-good file merely to reproduce this report. If the symptom already occurred, preserve both the suspect file and any earlier working save before attempting a rollback. The source does not establish a repair for the affected file or a final fixed version. It also does not justify claiming that every input is disabled forever or that deleting a save is the only possible response.
