Catto Boi Collection Missing Saves: The Developer’s Suggested Workarounds

Developer mango-ki could not reproduce the September 2025 missing-progress report and offered existing-save migration or starter data. Starter data does not reconstruct exact lost progress; Windows 11 was a reported environment, not a proven cause.

A restart preceded the missing unlocks

LazyZiggly reported stopping Journey to Catto Land to restart the PC. On reopening the collection, other saves appeared gone and only Adventures of Catto Boi was playable, opening at its good-ending screen.

The player identified Windows 11 and progress in Tedious Pearl Hunt and Journey to Catto Land. That is useful context, not proof that restarting Windows deletes collection saves.

What to record before replacing data

The developer asked about the operating system and saves from other editions.

1. Record which collection entries remain selectable.
2. Record which game and ending screen opens.
3. Keep existing local files before moving or replacing them.
4. Check whether another edition or backup contains useful progress.

The workaround had two paths

Mango-ki said their own save progression retained data and they could not reproduce the issue. They suggested copying existing saves from other editions into the appropriate Steam game folders, or trying supplied starter data.

The suggested path used a per-game folder and file.ini. A starter file is not a reconstruction of the missing run. Replacing it may change progress, so retain the original separately.

The exchange did not establish a universal cause

The developer mentioned a Windows 10 test environment while the player used Windows 11. That comparison is a diagnostic lead, not evidence every Windows 11 installation is affected.
