Short answer

Being unable to leave Priscilla’s arena is not, by itself, proof of a ruined save. One Prepare to Die Edition player resolved that apparent softlock after discovering Priscilla was still alive and invisible.

Scope: A January 2016 Prepare to Die Edition PC report. This does not establish the behavior or repair status of every Remastered build.

The report changed after the first diagnosis

In the Steam thread, CokeVoAYCE initially believed cutting Priscilla’s tail had killed her. Jumping from the exit ledge then resulted in death. The player later corrected the account: Priscilla remained alive, and finishing the fight allowed the normal exit. That correction matters more than the thread’s original claim that the game was broken.

Separate the two symptoms

An invisible hostile boss and a repeating post-death dialogue are different observations. Before treating them as one fault, establish which sequence your save actually shows.

  1. Check whether the encounter has genuinely ended rather than relying on the tail cut.
  2. If Priscilla is still fighting while invisible, finish the encounter before retrying the exit.
  3. If a confirmed death is followed by repeating dialogue, record that separate behavior and keep an earlier save.

The successful outcome belongs to the player who had misidentified the boss’s state. It is not evidence that attacking an already dead boss repairs a dialogue lock.

What this does not prove

Other replies discuss a one-hit kill and a possible dialogue problem. Those statements do not establish a universal fix, a code cause or a final patch. Suggestions to delete a character or modify memory should not be treated as the necessary next step merely because someone used the word softlock.

The practical cost of a wrong diagnosis

Abandoning the file would discard a character that, in this particular case, could still finish the encounter. Check the observable fight state first. If your symptoms differ from the resolved report, preserve that distinction when asking for help.
