Celestial Command’s Missing Science Missions: Read the 2023 Updates Separately

Short answer

The November 2023 player thread reported improvement, while official updates documented navigation-data and system-unlock fixes. Do not merge those records into a claim that one named patch universally repaired every missing combat mission.

Scope: PC reports and updates 0.9.0.4/0.9.0.5, November 2023.

The block concerned earning science

7th7andwich said loading removed or hid fighting missions in the current area. Other systems appeared to lack combat, and returning to previously visited systems was restricted. Another player reported losing targets.

The consequence was specific: encounters needed for technological advancement were unavailable. It was not merely an incorrect menu number.

Compare the state before and after loading

Preserve an earlier state while recording what changes.

  1. Note available missions and the current system before saving.
  2. Load and compare the targets.
  3. Record any travel restriction message.
  4. Separate missing encounters from a navigation counter or map-button problem.

What the official updates list

Update 0.9.0.4 says navigation requirements were saved and loaded, scientific data from wreckage was counted correctly, systems unlocked correctly and the map’s Back button no longer disappeared.

Update 0.9.0.5 adds unlocking after all stations are captured even without enough navigation data, describing this as resolving some save-loading errors. Neither notice makes the entire forum symptom a single proven code defect.

The follow-up is narrower than a guarantee

On November 24, the original poster said the issue was mostly fixed in the latest update. That observation falls between the two update notices; do not attribute it to a later patch not yet published.

Use the current build before troubleshooting, but do not promise updating recreates every encounter in an old save. A final universal repair version for this exact mission loss was not established.
